Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What time does racing usually start?

A: The track is usually open from 0700, with racing starting at around 0900.

Q: Is there an entry fee for spectators?

A: Unless otherwise advertised, attending our race meetings to watch is 100% free. We have 2 large car parks on site for you to park up and enjoy our racing.

Q: Is food and drink available?

A: Yes, we have a fantastic crew of volunteers that keep our club cafe well stocked with yummy food and drinks! In the afternoon our bar is also open to serve alcolohic drinks, we are licenced to sell these.

Q: Can we trial the sport if it's something we're interested in?

A: Absolutely, see this page for more info: https://www.kartsportwellington.nz/new-to-karting/have-a-go

Q: Does karting have a race season like other sports?

A: No, karting is an all year round sport which is why it's so popular. We race at least 11 times per year as a club, and then usually host 1-3 other high profile meetings. See our club calendar for more info.

Q: Do you race in the rain?

A: Yes, we sure do! Karting is an all weather, all year round sport and we race in all conditions within reason.

Q: Is it expensive?

A: That's a very subjective question. You can spend as much or as little as you want to really! A general rule of thumb though, an entry level paclage can get you into the sport for around $4,000 to $6,000. From there it's on going costs like maintainence, tyres, fuel, spare parts etc.

Q: I need more info, who do I cantact?

A: See the committee list in the About Us tab for where your query needs to go, or drop us an email at club@kartsportwellington.co.nz
